The AUXO Cenote is a premium e-nail, or electronic concentrate vaporizer. It’s meant to be a portable device which you can use for dabbing on-the-go, or even an alternative to your desktop concentrate setup.
AUXO calls the Cenote a “smart concentrate vaporizer” and as such, it brings a number of attractive specs and features to the table. These include 3 preset temperature settings, a customizable temperature setting, app control, wireless charging, and 360° lighting effects.
The Cenote has a stainless steel heating rod and uses aluminum oxide ceramic nails, of which you get 5 included in the box. It has a temperature range of 392-644°F (200-340°C) and heats up in only 28 seconds. Auxo says that the Cenote’s 2000mAh battery can last for up to 12 sessions per charge (100 second sessions), but we’ll see how long it lasts in real-world usage.
If you’re in the market for a new e-nail, is the Cenote the rig to get? I used it for two weeks to find out.
This device was sent to me by AUXO for the purpose of this review. However, this does not in any way affect my thoughts or ratings of this device.
As you can see from the above list, you get a lot of goodies with the Cenote. Heck, it’s a $400 device so I would hope that you get some cool things with it! The included travel case is a hard foam material that is useful for taking the Cenote out of the house if you have a bag, or just for storing the Cenote away if you aren’t going to be using it for a while. It’s a nice case for keeping all of your accessories too.
You get 5 ceramic nails with the Cenote, which is awesome. You can just swap nails when one of your nails is dirty, instead of being unable to use the device until you clean the nail. Also, if too much residue builds up, you can just toss the nail away.
The other included accessories are standard as far as what you usually get with a concentrate e-rig, so not a lot to say here.
The Cenote is a very nice e-rig and you can immediately tell that it’s expensive and premium. It’s meant to be a portable device so it’s not as large as some other desktop rigs that I’ve used, which makes it a good candidate for taking on-the-go.
The Cenote is 143mm tall, 95mm wide, and 56mm deep. The width measurement is from the tip of the mouthpiece on the glass recycler, but since it’s a circular shape it’s realistically 56mm in diameter. It’s compact for an e-rig, but it’s still quite girthy. It also has a weight to it that you can feel at 320.5g.
The weight makes it feel extremely solid though and adds to the premium feel. I would be disappointed if I paid $400 for something that is so light that it feels cheap, so I don’t mind the weight. I also don’t think that it makes it any less portable as you’re still going to need to carry the case and accessories, so the overall size and weight are good. No portable rig is going to be featherlight anyway.
The materials used on the Cenote are excellent, both from a design and from a vapor quality standpoint. It has a large glass recycler that can be filled with water to cool your vapor, which is necessary for the hot vapor that you get from dabs. The body of the Cenote is made of polycarbonate with a rubberized coating. This rubber skin is textured with vertical lines for added grip and it feels nice in the hand.
The heating rod is made of stainless steel and the Cenote uses ceramic nails for the actual heating chamber. Nails simply push into the top of the heating rod, which has a silicone seal around it.
The glass recycler slots on and over the heating road/nail, and twists and locks into place on the base of the Cenote with a quarter-turn. With the glass recycler installed you can remove the silicone and glass carb cap from the top of the recycler, which gives you access to loading the nail. There’s a small hole in the top of the carb cap which you can use to brew your concentrates.
A common problem with bubblers is that you end up with water in your mouth if you pull too hard. The Cenote solves this issue by providing a nozzle for the recycler. This nozzle still allows airflow through but effectively prevents water from exiting the mouthpiece. I haven’t gotten water in my mouth once while I’ve used the Cenote, which is a different experience from a lot of other water-cooled rigs that I’ve used.
On the Cenote is a single button which is used to control all of the functions. It’s not the most simple to use at first, but after following the instruction manual for a while you get used to the operation. It’s a lot easier to control using the app, which I’ll get into a bit later.
The Cenote is a bit of a party device because it has what AUXO calls “360° Lighting”. There are LED lights that sit just under the glass recycler, as well as LED lights on the base of the Cenote. These are primarily for indicating the state of the Cenote when heating, cooling down, or charging, but it also serves the purpose of just looking awesome. You can customize the lighting, including the brightness and the colors, through the AUXO app. There are six lighting effects available out of the box:
There are also two additional lighting modes that can be downloaded through the app (Zen and Lighthouse). I think that the lighting effects are pretty awesome but they definitely take a toll on the already strained battery life. This is a powerful device that can heat up to 644°F, so you know that the battery is already under heavy demand.
Unfortunately, while you can turn the light brightness to “stealth” (which turns off the LEDs that sit under the glass recycler), there’s no way to turn them off completely. The LEDs will still illuminate the base of the Cenote. This is better, but still not as stealthy as I would like for some situations.
As I mentioned in the last section, the 360° lighting is one of the Cenote’s main features. But that has nothing to do with the performance and the other specs are what matter. Luckily, the Cenote has some impressive specs to go with its impressive lighting.
It has a temperature range of 392-644°F (200-340°C), more than enough for concentrate vaporization, and it heats up in only 28 seconds. There are 4 settings of which 3 are preset temperatures and one is a “PRO” mode where you can customize the temperature to your liking. These settings are:
Pressing the power button once will change the temperature setting. The setting that you’re in is indicated by the glow of red LEDs. The softest glow is setting 1, and the glow gets stronger as you go through modes 2 and 3. PRO Mode is designated by purple LEDs, however it can only be customized through the app.
Speaking of the app, it’s a little harder to get it now that app stores have cracked down on vaporizer apps, but AUXO has developed a little work around. If you don’t have the AUXO app like I do (I’ve had it since I reviewed the Calent dry herb vaporizer), all hope is not lost. Here’s what you have to do to get the app:
For Android devices, download the AUXO Connect app on the play store.
For Apple devices, follow the instructions provided by AUXO on their website.
In my opinion, the app is a must-have for the Cenote. It’s just so customizable and it has so many features that trying to use just the single button to control your experience is just not the way to do it. Yes, of course you can still use the Cenote without the app, but if you use it this way then you’re certainly missing out.
The app allows you to set a custom temperature and session time, toggle the LED settings, choose the LED lighting colors that you like, view your battery charge level, and more. It makes using the Cenote so much simpler and overall makes for a better user experience.
If you aren’t using the app, the session timer is by default set to 40 seconds. However, you can press the button once to extend your session time by twenty seconds. In the app, there’s a toggle to add twenty seconds to your session time by default and then you can press the physical button on the Cenote to extend it a further twenty seconds. Sessions can be extended indefinitely, which is nice.
The Cenote comes with five nails in the box, which is just plain awesome. You can use one until it’s dirty and then replace it with another one so that you don’t have to miss out on using it. Plus, if a nail gets too dirty then you can always just throw the nail away. After a while of using a nail, the residue can really affect the flavor of your concentrates (especially with a ceramic nail) so treating these as disposable after heavy usage is the way to go.
Each nail has a 0.02mm super thin metallic strip embedded into it, for even heating without burning your concentrates. These nails heat your concentrates with conduction heating.
When you first take the Cenote out of the box you’ll want to plug it in and let it charge. That’s the first step. Once it’s done charging you can twist and lift the glass recycler from the base to expose the heating rod.
Next you’ll want to take one of the ceramic nails and place it into the top of the stainless steel heating rod. Press the nail down firmly to ensure that it makes full contact with the metal contacts in the base of the heating rod.
Once that is done, you can fill the glass recycler with water. There’s a sticker indicating the fill line. If done correctly, the water level should be about 14mm from the base of the recycler. Take the recycler nozzle and place it into the mouthpiece. This will prevent any water from getting into your mouth.
Installing the recycler onto the base is easy; it’s just the opposite of how you took it off. There are notches on the base of the recycler which align with notches in the Cenote. When installed correctly, the mouthpiece will be aligned with the power button on the Cenote.
Loading up material is also straightforward. Remove the carb cap from the top-center of the recycler and you’ll see the nail that you previously installed. You want to load up your material with the device cool and off, as to avoid burning yourself. The Cenote is meant as a session dab rig, not as one that you load up while it’s on and running.
Using the included loading tool, take a rice grain size amount of material and load it into the chamber. Replace the carb cap back onto the recycler and you’re ready to go.
With all of that done, there are two ways that you can use the Cenote: with the app, or as a standalone device.
Using the Cenote without the app really limits the experience but it’s still usable like this (just not my preferred way to go). Here’s how to do it:
Using the app makes using the Cenote better because you can customize the pro mode, change the LED lighting, and easily see your battery charge level. When using the app, this is how to use the Cenote:
The AUXO Cenote has a 2000mAh battery built-in which can be recharged with Type-C charging, as well as with wireless QI charging. You can’t use the Cenote while it charges though, as there’s no pass-thru functionality.
AUXO claims on their website that a single charge will last you for twelve, 100 second sessions, and that’s pretty accurate, just make sure that you charge it fully with the included cable and adapter before using it.
In my experience, I used the Cenote for more than ten sessions per charge with each one being a minimum of 60 seconds. I tended to use the first or second temperature setting (518°F and 572°F), so expect less usage time if using higher temperatures or longer sessions.
Battery life is indicated by a glowing green LED on the base of the Cenote. You can check the battery life by pressing the power button three times and looking at the glow on the base. It’s difficult, actually impossible, to tell the battery life this way though. The green LED is supposed to fade more as the battery gets lower, but honestly it’s not a reliable way to see where your battery is at. Checking your battery life through the app is a much easier and more accurate way to go about it.
The Cenote recharges in 90 minutes using the included cable and adapter and as I mentioned earlier, it does not have pass-thru charging. If you try to use the app while it charges you’ll get a message stating to wait until it’s finished charging.
The Cenote is an all-around amazing device for concentrates. It’s one that I found myself wanting to use again and again, even with multiple other devices around me. The semi-restricted pull is super nice and smooth, even at the highest of the preset temperature settings.
I think that AUXO did a great job of setting the temperature settings appropriately for an experience that goes from chill to really feeling it as you go up through the settings. Of course, you can always use the PRO mode if you really want to max out the temperature that the Cenote is capable of.
Vaporization happens effectively with no waste. I can really taste the flavor of my concentrates and the vapor is warm but not hot thanks to the water cooling. You don’t have to pull very hard to get this thing going, and the carb cap is really effective for brewing before taking a large pull to clear out the chamber. No water got in my mouth either thanks to the handy mouthpiece cap.
It doesn’t take a lot of material for a good session either. I used about a rice grain sized amount for each session and got a bunch of decent sized rips off of it, so the heating is efficient. I never got a burnt taste either, so the ceramic nails do a good job of evenly heating without burning.
All-in-all, it’s a great experience using the Cenote.
The Cenote is without a doubt one of the best concentrate vaporizers on the market right now. It’s an e-nail that you can take with you on-the-go but that is just as effective sitting in your home waiting for the next session. The swappable nails are excellent, not just because you get five of them and they can be disposed of if they get too dirty, but they heat up evenly and provide an excellent experience.
Using the app is the way to go with the Cenote, but it can still be effectively used without it. I highly recommend getting the app for the ability to customize pro mode, see your battery life, and overall just use the device more easily.
In addition to the performance, it’s just a really nice device. The only downside is that the price tag matches the premium looks and it’s going to run you about $400 USD to get a Cenote for yourself. Is the price worth it? It’s expensive but it’s definitely a device that performs at the top of its class. If you have the money to drop on the Cenote then I don’t think that you’ll regret the purchase.
Highly recommended.
The AUXO Calent is a small and portable dry herb vaporizer. It’s one of AUXO’s three products, all of which are focused on making the dry herb and concentrate vaping experience better and more convenient.
A standout feature of the Calent is that it uses dual conduction and infrared heating for more even roasting of dry herbs. It has four preset heat settings (up to 220°C or 428°F), and the device can also be controlled through the AUXO Connect APP. The device is powered by a built-in 2900mAh battery that recharges with Type-C charging.
AUXO specializes in concentrate and dry herb vapes and all of their products have a premium look to them. As of the time of writing this review, AUXO offers three products: the Cira desktop concentrate vaporizer, the Cenote portable concentrate vaporizer, and the Calent dry herb vaporizer that I am reviewing today.
I’ve been using the AUXO Calent for about three weeks now, and in that time I’ve used it a lot. I have a bunch of things to say about it (spoiler: they’re mostly good), so I won’t waste any more time with this introduction.
Is the AUXO Calent a good dry herb vaporizer? Is it a device that is worth spending your hard-earned money on? Read on to find out.
The AUXO Calent is a quality dry herb vape, and this was immediately apparent to me from the moment that I took it out of the box. It has a body that is made out of aluminum alloy and the paint finish not only looks good, but it feels good too.
The Calent is also a good size for a dry herb vaporizer and, thanks to the aluminum alloy body, it’s still quite light too. It’s 106.1mm tall, 45mm wide, and 25mm deep, and it weighs about 135g. The Calent is at that perfect size where it’s large enough so it’s comfortable to hold and use, but small and slim enough that it’s no problem to take it out of the house (which is the whole point of a portable dry herb vaporizer).
The oval shaped body feels solid and very premium. The Calent only comes in one color, a gunmetal gray, but it suits the device perfectly and keeps it low-key and discreet.
I also like the series of diagonal lines that run down each side of the device, forming a thicker horizontal line. It’s a nice touch of design to the otherwise plain body. Branding is also kept to a bare minimum, with a small Calent logo on one side and an AUXO logo on the other.
The fire button and connected adjustment buttons are made of black plastic, but they feel just as high quality as the rest of the device. There’s no wiggling or rattling and the buttons are firm and responsive. All of the buttons produce an audible ‘click’ when pushed. The throw of the buttons is also nice; not too shallow and just right.
The Calent has an interesting mouthpiece that I’ve really come to like. It’s made of zirconia, so it stays cool during sessions. It’s oval shaped and nearly flat, and it rotates 360° at the top of the Calent. This allows you to tuck it away on the top of the Calent when you’re not using it, and swivel it out when you’re ready for a session.
You can position the mouthpiece in any direction that you desire, but I found it most comfortable to use it sticking straight out (facing the same side as the buttons on the device). This is because the top of the Calent slopes downwards towards the back of the device (the side opposite the buttons). Facing the mouthpiece on the sides results in your chin almost resting up against the device when vaping, and that’s an awkward way to vape.
Apart from the cool swiveling action, the mouthpiece can also be disassembled into 8 pieces for easy cleaning.
The mouthpiece is connected to the top of the Calent, and this top portion is also the cap for the heating chamber. The mouthpiece attaches magnetically to the Calent, and the magnet is very strong and keeps the mouthpiece firmly connected.
All you have to do is give the mouthpiece a firm pull upwards to detach it from the Calent, and now you have easy access to the heating chamber.
The heating chamber on the Calent is made of stainless steel and will hold up to 0.4g of material, however it’s recommended to fill it up with a max of 0.3g. There’s a line on the inside of the oven that indicates where you should fill to, so if you want the best performance then don’t fill it past this line.
From my experience, you should use medium-ground dry herbs with the Calent. You don’t want your herb to be too finely ground and powdery. Instead, it should be small and crumbled without turning into dust.
If you grind your herb too finely, you risk clogging up the mouthpiece and restricting the airflow. As a result, you’ll get less than satisfactory vapor. I suggest experimenting with your grind until you get it just right, but just avoid grinding your herbs into powder.
The AUXO Calent isn’t as feature-filled, nor as customizable, as some of the competition. However, it still provides all of the necessary features to have a good vaping experience and it’s very, very simple to use.
The Calent has four preset temperature settings. The temperature level is indicated by four lights, which form a circle around the power button:
For how slim and light it is, the Calent has an impressively large 2900mAh built-in battery. This really adds to the portability aspect of the device because you can take it out with you and not have to worry about it dying while you’re away from home.
You can check the battery charge level by pressing the fire button three times. The LEDs will flash green, and the number of lights indicates your charge level. Each of the four LEDs indicates a 25% charge.
On a full charge, the Calent will get you about twenty, three minute sessions. This is roughly an hour of usage time per full charge, and that’s plenty if you’re only using it for one full session at a time.
The battery recharges with Type-C charging, and the charging port is located on the back of the device. It takes approximately two-and-a-half hours to fully recharge, which is lengthy for sure. But for the amount of usage time that you get out of a charge, and how large the battery is, it’s an understandable charge time.
The Calent is straightforward to use, and that’s one of the most appealing aspects of this device. There are no complicated settings, no screen, and no menu.
To start using the Calent, remove the mouthpiece by pulling up to separate it from the device. You’ll see the stainless steel heating chamber, which will work best when packed with 0.3g of medium-ground herbs.
Grind your herbs to a medium grind (not too fine!), and fill the bowl up to the line inside of the heating chamber. Lightly tamp your material down and replace the mouthpiece onto the Calent, ensuring to fit it back on properly.
To turn the Calent on or off, press and hold the power button for 3 seconds. The Calent will vibrate and the lights around the power button will illuminate.
To cycle through the four temperature settings, press the + or – adjustment buttons. The temperature level is indicated by four lights, which form a circle around the power button:
The lights will be blue when the device is idle. When you’ve selected your preferred temperature, press and hold the + adjustment button and the Calent will begin heating the oven. The blue lights will flash around in a ring while the device is heating up. Once the Calent has reached your selected temperature setting, the ring of lights will turn a solid green.
Now you can swivel the mouthpiece out to a position that is comfortable for you to draw on and begin vaping. The Calent will automatically stop heating after three minutes as a safety feature, and also to preserve battery life. If you want a longer session, you can press and hold the + adjustment button to start another three minute session.
When you’re done with the Calent, press and hold the fire button to shut the device down.
You can also control the Calent by downloading the AUXO Connect App, which is available for both Android and IOS devices.
The app is a little barebones, but it allows you to easily control the Calent without using the physical buttons on the device.
Other features off the app include the ability to change the device to stealth mode, which turns off the LEDs for more discreet usage, and the option to change the vibration intensity from to weak, strong, or completely off. You can also see your battery life in percentage at the top of the screen.
The UI of the app is simple and effective. There’s a large temperature reading as the main part of the app, and below it is a scroll wheel that allows you to select from the four preset temperatures. Once you’ve selected the temperature that you desire, you can press the large Start button and the Calent will begin to heat up. Once it’s up to temperature (in about 20-30 seconds), you’ll also see a live countdown of the session timer.
I like the app, but I found it easier to just control the Calent with the physical buttons. I do like the extra information that the app gives you though, like the countdown for the session timer. The app also easily connected to my Calent and reconnected seamlessly on subsequent uses.
The Calent is easily one of the best dry herb vaporizers that I’ve used in recent times. The flavor is outstanding, which probably has a lot to do with its use of dual conduction and infrared heating. As I mentioned earlier, infrared heating more gently heats up material, which in turn preserves the flavor of your dry herb. I can taste the difference between the Calent and other dry herb vapes that I’ve used, and it’s a close rival to the best convection vaporizers on the market.
The Calent delivers a loose draw, with a little bit of restriction. The restriction is barely noticeable, but it’s enough that it’s not too airy of a draw. Vapor tastes clean and warm, and only gets warmer the higher you set the temperature.
For the most effects from your material, you’ll want to use the highest temperature setting (428°F), but the two lower temperature settings are best for more mellow effects with the best flavor from your material.
The zirconia mouthpiece keeps cool, even with multiple sessions, and it’s positioned in a way that you aren’t going to risk burning your lips. The device itself gets a little warm, but it never gets overly hot.
The AUXO Calent is an excellent portable dry herb vaporizer. It has a premium and high-end look and feel, and the performance and vapor quality are similarly excellent. The body is ergonomic and a pleasure to hold, and the aluminum alloy body keeps it lightweight enough to take with you anywhere. The 2900mAh battery is surprisingly large for the size and weight of the Calent, and a single charge will last for an hour of usage time — more than enough for a day out of the house.
The dual conduction and infrared heating maintains the flavor of the material, while still extracting all of the goodness from your herbs. If strong effects are what you’re after, the Calent can do it. If it’s flavor that you’re looking for, the Calent can do that too.
Perhaps the best feature of the Calent is its lack of features. It’s just so simple to use. If you’re the type of vaper who just wants a dry herb vape that you can take with you out of the house, and that will work, the Calent delivers all of this and more. Not only does it work, but it works well, and the battery life is excellent to boot.
When it comes to portable dry herb vapes, the AUXO Calent is highly recommended.
]]>The AUXO Calent is a portable dry herb vaporizer trying to deliver a premium vape experience at an affordable price.
It comes with an in-built 2900mAh battery and has four pre-set temperature settings, and uses a hybrid heat system of conduction and infrared for even roasting, to produce a quality vape experience.
The Calent has a sleek and elegant design, but can it deliver a quality vape experience? Let’s find out.
The Good
Sleek design, excellent build quality, hybrid heating system, easy to use, roasts efficiently, good battery life, decent airflow, and vapor.

AUXO Calent Vaporizer Specifications
AUXO Calent Vaporizer Kit Contents
The first thing you notice when taking the Calent out of the box is just how premium it feels and looks.
It’s a sophisticated, sleek-looking vaporizer with a dark metallic grey finish. All the branding and markings on the device are subtle and further accentuate its elegant styling.
It’s not the smallest portable vaporizer you will come across, but it is compact and only measures 4in x 1.7in x 1in. It does feel perfectly comfortable in the hand.
This is helped by the full curved edges and matte finish of the body.
One of the most interesting design choices, which also adds to the compact styling and ease of use, is the inclusion of a 360° Rotatable Mouthpiece.
The mouthpiece can be neatly tucked away on top of the device, then when you are ready to use it, just slide it out. It’s a neat little design and works really well. The mouthpiece is made from Zirconia, feels good in the mouth, and stays cool while in use.
The Calent is also reasonably lightweight for a device containing a 2900mAh battery. It has a USB-C port for charging on the bottom rear of the device. It can charge from flat in approximately 2.5 Hours.
The buttons on the device also feel good and are nice and clicky. There are 4 LED lights that go around the circumference of the fire button, indicating the temperature pre-set you have it set to.
The +/- adjustment buttons are situated beneath the fire button; they are easy to press and adjust your settings with.
It's also worth mentioning that when you switch the Calent on, it gives you haptic feedback by vibrating in your hand. It also does this when putting it in pre-heat mode and when the session is ready. It’s a nice little addition that adds to the premium experience.
Overall the design and build quality of the Calent is excellent. It feels like a high-end product, and the styling is simple yet elegant.
The AUXO Calent comes with an in-built 2900mAh battery.
The Calent has an oven capacity of 0.3g, and the chamber is heated by a combination of conduction and an integrated infrared laser. Manufacturers are advancing ways to heat dry herbs, we’ve seen infrared lasers before, but it’s a welcome addition here.
The combination of conduction and infrared allows the Calent to have extremely even THC extraction in the chamber. As a result, you won’t get too many hot or cold spots in the chamber, and you shouldn’t have to stir your bowl (especially when using a medium grind).
You’ll also get less of a smell during inhales due to the reduced conduction. All of which add to the portability of the device.
Pre-Set Temperatures:
The AUXO Calent comes with four pre-set temperatures:
The heat-up time will be approximately 20-30 seconds before the 3-minute session timer starts (depending on your selected pre-set).
If you have either of the highest temperatures set and are inhaling at a typical rate, you should be able to clear the bowl. However, the lower two pre-sets will probably require another session to clear the bowl.
The Calent is as easy as they come with regards to herb vaporizers. This means you shouldn’t run into any problems, but you are also not able to customize your sessions:
Phone App
The Calent also has integrated Bluetooth, and AUXO has created a phone app for both Android and IOS.
The app is pretty straightforward and allows you to control the unit, but it doesn’t let you do any more than you can do on the device itself. So it could be seen as a bit of a gimmick, but I’m sure there will be some techies out there that love that kind of thing.
Who knows, maybe AUXO will add more features to the app down the line.
I was really impressed with the performance of the AUXO Calent. It’s a sleek device that’s easy to use and does an excellent job for the price. However, there are a few things to take note of.
Firstly, the infrared laser used in the Calent does feel very efficient. It definitely toasts your herb a little more thoroughly than your average portable vaporizer, which is excellent.
However, it seems to work better with a medium or coarse grind. Anything finer tends to clog up the chamber and reduce the airflow.
The Calent also works best with long and slow inhales. I found using a coarse grind and setting the pre-set to 2 (392°) gave me good airflow and enabled me to take nice long hits with decent flavor and vapor.
It still works well at maximum temperature but got a little too hot for my liking.
The 2900mAh battery on the device is perfect and can see you through about an hour of vaping (or 20 x 3-minute sessions). This is definitely ample for a portable vaporizer, and recharge times are not too bad at 2.5 hours.
Overall the Calent does everything it sets out to do as a portable vaporizer, and does it with great style.
It’s a sleek-looking device that’s comfortable, easy to use, and delivers good airflow and taste. It’s also very efficient at roasting with its hybrid heat system.
It might not have all the features of more expensive vaporizers, but it’s super easy to use and clean. If that’s what you want in a portable dry herb vaporizer, this is an excellent choice.

But for newbies, what are the tricks to having a good vaping experience? Joe Strain, a seasoned vaporizer expert who works for leading vaporizer brand AUXO, says you should:
1. Use a quality grinder
– While some devices allow for the use of full cannabis buds, grinding the weed to a medium or fine consistency will allow it to burn more evenly, ultimately allowing you to inhale more CBD or THC.
2. Clean your vaporizer frequently
– Getting into a routine of cleaning your cannabis vape after every session (or at least once a week) will ensure that the device continues to work properly and provide clean, unaltered flavors.
And these new smart vapes are lightning fast – the AUXO Calent heats up quickly, in about 20-30 seconds, depending on the mode chosen, and pairs with the AUXO Connect App for an easy and convenient experience that is easily repeatable for sesh mode.
It has four preset heat settings, a sleek aluminum body, and ultimate customization. Calent’s battery life lasts for up to 20 sessions based on 3 minute sessions, a very competitive battery life compared to others on the market.
Apps have the power to add a layer of customization much like getting suggested your favorite new songs on Spotify, or binge-worthy shows on Netflix. Through personalization of vaporizer technology, there truly is something for everyone – and their preferences are just as unique as they are.

Howdy, vape-kateers! We're back with the latest technology in dry herb vaping with the AUXO Calent. Previously we have reviewed the AUXO Cira for extracts and had good things to say about them. The AUXO Calent is a dry herb vaporizer only.
So, what was that I said about "latest technology"? The AUXO Calent uses "advanced conduction and infrared dual-heating technology." Now, we try to keep up with everything in the cannabis industry, but our research staff tires easily. I'll have to conclude that, even though I seem to recall infrared vaporizers on the scene a few years ago, this is the first time it's combined with conduction to my knowledge.
See our video review of the AUXO Calent here.
I'll say first off, the AUXO Calent is one of the few vapes I'd call "attractive." Its sleek, smooth surface and simple controls really make it feel like something you could have on your nightstand and not care if company sees it. I know aesthetics aren't a major concern on the vape market, but it's nice to have some consideration for those nightstands out there.
The design aesthetic extends to the controls, which are simple and functional. 5X clicks to turn on, 3x clicks to check battery life, +/- controls to adjust between four temperature settings, hold the "+" to heat it up and start vaping, auto-shutoff. The readout is a ring of LEDs around the main button, using a system of fourths to measure both battery life and temp setting.
The only thing you could ask for in the design is a smaller, more compact build. There are smaller dry herb vapes out there, such as the Boundless Vexil. From the AUXO Calent's standpoint, they might have been constrained by the inclusion of this dual-heating technology in one form, so I can't fault for that. As it is, it is still perfect for the at-home user and is only in the shampoo bottle size range anyway.
Before I forget, the AUXO Calent has a phone app that you can install and use it to control the unit. That's very far from any use case most of us could conceive of, but hey, it's there if you need it. If you're one of those people who run your life over Bluetooth signals.
So, "infrared," as we all know, is a bit of the radiation spectrum. Radiating vaporizers use either electricity or direct light to provide heat. At the same time, we have the standard conduction heating method also working. In practice, on the inhale, I honestly could not tell the difference between the Calent and other dry herb vapes I've tried. However, I do notice that the Calent seems to want to run at a higher temperature than I normally use, and that the herb after vaping is roasted perfectly, with no burning and no waste.
The temperature settings range 356℉ – 428℉ , so the temps increase at 18 degree increments.
As I note in the video, the oven chamber appears to be much bigger than the recommended 0.3 grams loading capacity. But this might be extra room needed in there for the infrared to work? In any case, it’s probably best to stick with 0.3.
At a manufacturer's price of $119.99, the Calent is a few bucks higher than the cheapest vapes on the market, while far from being the most expensive (even in the dry-herb ranks). I have to commend AUXO for packing this much tech, design, and attention to detail into a unit with a reasonable price.
Speaking as an old-school Linux geek (it's where the "Penguin" in my web persona comes from), I'm reminded of the old Unix operating system philosophy: "Do one thing, but do it well." The Calent is just for dry herb, and more aimed at the home user and those vaping for therapeutic / medical benefits, but it is very well-thought-out. The design feels very "next generation" now that we have the rudimentary basics of vaping worked out.

The user-friendly features and precise temperature control of the Cira e-rig by AUXO makes portable dabbing easier than ever.
The new Cira e-rig from AUXO is the latest in portable electric dab rig technology, designed to deliver a premium concentrates consumption experience. The device is part of a new generation of e-rigs that are taking over the market and changing the way concentrate connoisseurs enjoy their dabs.
The Cira e-rig has been developed with a focus on user experience. To ensure an uncomplicated and clean e-rig session, it removes the need for you to take cumbersome and dangerous butane torches on the road with you. Instead, the smart device heats an element with dual long-lasting 2000mAh batteries, so dabbers can taste their terps on a hike or at the beach without using any flames.
The device comes with titanium and quartz heating chamber options, allowing you to switch up your dabbing experience depending on the flavors and terpene levels of your content. Additional user-friendly features include a distinctive anti-scalding wave design and an OLED monitor that displays both temperature and battery life so that you can quickly check on Cira’s status at a glance.
I took the Cira for a day skiing with friends in Big Sky, Montana. I was excited to see how it would perform for a day’s worth of dabbing with some slurpy, terpy live rosin to elevate our experience, and to discover just how portable the device is.
Snugly fitting in my hand, Cira measures at 130mm long and 76mm wide, and weighs a comfortable 340g without the glass mouthpiece, perfect for taking on the road. Just before riding the slopes of Lone Mountain in Big Sky, we took our first hits on the Cira. We were still in my friend’s car, so I loaded the quartz chamber with the extract. Quartz is my favorite material for nails and bangers, as it really lets the terpene profiles sing. Now it’s time to set it to the preferred temperature, which for me is around 650°F.
One thing I really like is the ability to break it down for even easier transporting. I was able to remove the atomizer, dishes and battery and put it in my pocket—an excellent feature that other portable e-rigs on the market don’t offer.
Being able to customize and control the temperature of the dab is one of the most important factors I look at when choosing a new e-rig. Temperature control is critical in preventing evaporation and also ensures the full, delicious terpy-ness of the dabs.
The Cira e-rig delivers a 450°F to 1000°F temperature range, precisely controlled at 10°F with each adjustment, providing complete control over your preferred dabbing temperature. This feature especially comes in handy if you love trying out different concentrates; the 10°F difference could be perfectly calibrated to maximize the potency and flavor profile of your contents.
AUXO’s patent-pending Heating Wire Technology provides a speedy pre-heating time of 20 seconds, almost guaranteeing an instant session for me and my friends, especially out in the cold. The powerful dual 2000mAh batteries support more than 30 standard sessions—which we were definitely planning on using.
Gone are the days of dangerous butane dab torches and sizzling hot nails or bangers that can potentially burn precious extracts—and the dabber—thanks to advanced technologies housed in the Cira e-rig.
Cira’s extended heating mode allows you to maintain the heat temperature while extending your sessions by 15 seconds in the middle of the cycle. This was an extremely useful feature for us when we were mid-mountain and wanted to give a temperature boost for a friend who prefers his temps a little higher. You can lengthen the session by adding as many extra 15-second bursts as you need during the cycle. It’s easy to operate, too: Simply double click the “Plus” button within the 10-second heating countdown.
The Cira comes with a convenient charging base that is quite handy for setting down between dabs. The rapid charging of about 60 minutes is also a noteworthy feature. After a full day of skiing with the Cira, it needed to be recharged once I got home. You can easily set the Cira aside to charge while showering, or taking care of any chores and errands. Before you know it, Cira will be waiting for you, fully charged and ready to go. The charging cable is also compatible with any USB port, which makes charging on-the-go super convenient wherever you are.
All in all, I found the Cira e-rig to be a solidly built, easy-to-use dab rig that both experienced dabbers and newcomers alike can enjoy. For me, the Cira’s portability is a major draw. The device is great for taking up the mountain, on a road trip or a hike. It’s so much easier to throw it in a backpack instead of a dab rig and torch. Trust me, there’s nothing worse than getting to the top of a mountain and sitting down to admire the view, ready to take a well-deserved dab, when— oops! —you’ve forgotten the torch, or worse, it’s out of fuel.
At only $179.99, the Cira e-rig is a great price compared to other portable e-rigs on the market. It comes with everything you need, including quartz and titanium chambers, dabbers and cleaning sticks, as well as a 10-year manufacturer’s guarantee.
This new iteration of a traditional glass piece is a safer, portable option for those looking to level up their consumption game.
The AUXO Cira is a portable electric dab rig. It includes a glass bubbler mouthpiece and is powered by two batteries for a 2000 mAh total capacity. The device itself resembles a tall slim box mod and the mouthpiece looks like a mini bubbler. It’s like an e-nail meets a vape mod.
AUXO is relatively new to the cannabis industry. They primarily focus on vaporization technology for flower and cannabis concentrates. I have reviewed a bunch of portable dab rigs over the past few years. I can’t wait to see how the Cira compares to the best e-nails I’ve tested.
The device was sent courtesy of AUXO for the purpose of this review.
Price: $179.99 (at AUXO)

The AUXO Cira kit comes with a lot of stuff packaged neatly into one slick box. It includes the Cira device, the glass bubbler, charging cable, charging dock, wall adapter, dab tool, carb cap, two coils, some cleaning swabs, and a silicone tether for attaching the carb cap to the mouthpiece. I especially like the big and beefy dab tool that it comes with.
The packaging is very modern and clean. The box also serves as a decent carrying case. The kit includes two varieties of heating chambers, titanium and quartz. It also includes the charging dock, but you have the option to charge it with the included cable when on the go.
The Cira device itself stands at about 130 mm in height and is 76 mm wide and just under 60 mm in depth. It weighs around 340 grams, not including the glass mouthpiece section. The glass bubbler is firmly held onto the base by three O-rings, and the carb cap sits on top. The device has an OLED screen and a wavy texture on the top. It has a small footprint for an e-nail.
The device heats up in about 20 seconds and has a temperature range of 450°F-1000°F (232°C-538°C) which is adjustable in 10-degree increments. The 2000 mAh battery is rated for up to 30 sessions, based on an average 50-second session–which is a whole lot of dabbing!
The heating chambers thread onto the base just like a replaceable coil head. For some reason, the metal base of the device isn’t as solid as I would have expected–there is a bit of play to it. Not a huge con, but worth mentioning. It’s not that noticeable with the glass mouthpiece attached.
Using the Cira is pretty simple. You don’t need to be experienced with dabbing to use it. It takes a few sessions to get the hang of the controls, but after that, it becomes second nature. I was expecting it to do the five clicks on/off thing, but you actually have to hold the button for a few seconds.
Here is a rundown of how to use the AUXO Cira:
I tested the Cira with both the quartz and the titanium heating chambers. The titanium one hit a lot harder, without a doubt. They both produce very good flavor but the quartz one even more so. I’d say that the quartz heating chamber is ideal for flavor chasers, while the titanium is for the heavy hitters. But even at higher temperatures, the quartz chamber doesn’t retain as much heat, so it produces cleaner flavor.
I tested out the lower temp settings with some live resin crumble and the quartz heating chamber. The clouds were pretty mellow but the flavor was slamming. I also tried out some shatter on the titanium nail on a higher temp setting and it gave me a more intense cloud. Of course, the flavor wasn’t as clean as the low-temp quartz dab, but the puffs were satisfying
All in all, the hits were smooth and flavorful when used in the right temp range. It doesn’t produce the biggest clouds, but I get a few gentle rips off a tiny amount of concentrate. And it heats up very fast. Once it gets to around 300-400 °F, it shoots up quickly. The sessions last for 29 seconds but you can extend it for an additional 15 seconds by double-clicking the plus button. This function only works during the last 10 seconds of your session, but you can keep it going for a series of sessions. This comes in real handy for group sessions with friends. All they have to do is puff, puff, pass.
The Cira takes just under two hours to charge, which is not bad considering its huge battery life. You have the option of plugging in the USB adapter manually or using the charging dock. If you keep it on the charging dock when not in use, you can always have it charged and ready to go.
Cleaning the Cira doesn’t take a lot of effort. You just need to swab out the chamber after each session and maintain the glass section. When the chamber gets really dirty, you can soak it in alcohol, rinse it out, and let it dry. Eventually, you’ll have to buy replacement heating chambers.
Here is how to clean the Cira:
+ Easy to use
+ Good flavor
+ Fast heat-up times
+ Wide temperature range
+ Long-lasting 2000 mAh battery
+ Kit includes charging dock
+ Quartz and titanium coil options
+ Relatively low maintenance
+ Includes a nice dab tool
- Proprietary charging system
- Metal base section is not very sturdy
- Mild vapor production
At the end of the day, I like the Cira. It performs just as well as some of the e-rigs I’ve tested that go for around double the price! I would have preferred a non-proprietary charging option, but the battery life is so good that I can hardly complain. My only other issue is with the wobbly base section. I thought it was defective, but two of the devices I tested came that way.
I don’t see the Cira replacing a full-sized rig, but it’s a nice portable option to have. It offers a lot of versatility and crazy good battery life. It gets the job done and is easy to use and maintain.

]]>Any basic, straightforward search for "cannabis vaporizer" reveals a market crowded with relatively similar, sometimes awesome, and sometimes ill-conceived devices.
Maybe rainbow LEDs, solid gold air paths, or candy-colored collaborations set them apart from their shelf mates, but in today's marketplace, new ways to consume cannabis appear so frequently that it can be hard to keep up — especially when it comes to new interpretations of the contemporary e-rig or electric dab rig.
The majority of electric dab rigs are handheld, battery-powered units that effectively vaporize concentrates at low, medium, and high temperatures. For the most part, these devices are made up of a percolator, a ceramic or quartz heating element, and a battery users can recharge with a micro USB. Auxo's Cira falls in line with this majority, and for some very unique reasons, stands out as well.
Whether you're shopping for, or have just invested in one of your own, here's everything you need to know about Auxo Cira.
Auxo is the brand and the Cira is its flagship vaporizer. The Cira functions similarly to commensurate vaporizers; a unique, macaroni-shaped water chamber and bell-jar housing fit snugly atop a titanium or quartz nail (or bowl for the uninitiated), which punctuates the top of the Cira's narrow, rectangular body.
On one side, a digital monitor displays temperature readings from a patent-pending heating wire with a range of 450° - 1000°.
Right out of the box, the Cira is mostly intuitive as far as assembly and ease of use goes. The uncommon shapes of the glass, the housing, and the charging arrangement only need a moment of consideration before the device is ready to load. The directions themselves are laid out in a simple, triple folded one-sheet, not unlike the hyper-simple instructions one receives with a click-together bookshelf or bedframe.
The Cira utilizes proprietary heating technology to evenly distribute and maintain precise temperatures to a titanium or quartz bowl, which consumers can screw in at the device's head. The glass component of the Cira is also singular; the glass is attached to the body via a hand-blown dome that connects to a percolator mouthpiece and holds about two tablespoons of water. The separate, weighted charging base keeps the unit balanced and steady.
Once assembled, you may load the nail/banger with a concentrate of your choice, then press the power button to activate the device. Next, you can manipulate the heat controls to your desired temperature — or stay on the default 450° setting — and double click the power button to switch on the heating coil. The digital face on the side of the Cira counts the degrees as the temperature rises, then counts down from 20 once the temperature has been reached, giving you a 20-second window to take a draw or two. That hang time can be increased by 15 seconds if you double click the power button within 10 seconds of the countdown.
To assemble the Auxo Cira, attach the handheld body of the device to the weighted charging base. Next, insert either the titanium or the quartz banger into the top of the device and screw until tight.
Attach the silicone carb-cap leash to the shorter column of the glass element, and then slide that barrel-shaped unit over the nail. Attach the carb cap to the other end of the leash and your Cira is ready for use.
Temperatures on the Cira can be managed via two small buttons just below the digital face of the side of the device. The unit defaults at 450° but can apply temperatures up to 1000°. To locate your ideal temperature, make sure your device is activated and simply use the + or - buttons above the power button to dial the temperature up or down.
The Auxo Cira recharges by way of a removable charging base that connects via an included USB/DC cable and charging box. Though the base is technically removable, it functions as the necessary, weighted base for the device and should be used as such, rather than for charging exclusively.
Out of the box, the Cira arrives with just over half a charge, and a full charge can be reached in less than an hour. Progress is noted by the percentage on the digital face as the device powers up, and use is not recommended during charging.
The Cira's cleaning protocol is relegated to the removable nails and the glass percolator, both of which can be cleaned via alcohol submersion. However, a quick swab with a q-tip post dab will prolong the fresh surface of the nail and an occasional isopropyl rinse should keep the percolator crystal clear.
Always wait until the device has cooled completely before disassembling it for cleaning.
Each Cira package contains:
The uncommon shape and construction of this e-rig feels both unwieldy and unnecessary, especially the detachable charging base, without which, the device cannot stand on its own. The digital face makes temperature management easy, but the 20-second countdown and a lack of haptic feedback — the little buzz that tells you when your dab is "ready" — can complicate the process, resulting in wasted, burnt concentrates.
The astronomical temperature range effectively excludes low-temperature dabbers, trafficking only to users who dab at temperatures higher than the recommended range of 300° - 500°. In my opinion, the primary appeal of the $180 Cira is aesthetics, and so potential buyers, especially puffers of the low-temp variety, may want to hang tight for the Cira 2.0.
Precise temperature control and a streamlined design make the AUXO Cira ideal for stoners with high standards (and approachable for beginners). Find out our writer's experience putting Cira to the test.
Dry-herb vaporizers have had precise temperature control since the giant tabletop device days. So why is it so rare in e-rigs, even ones that advertise themselves as “smart”? “Variable temperature,” which usually means the product offers around four temperature settings, isn’t terribly exciting, and it’s silly to hold a high-quality e-rig to the same standards as a cheap 510 cartridge battery. Each concentrate is going to thrive on different temperature settings depending on the strain, its terpene profile, and its chemistry, and an investment piece should help get you there.
Last month, AUXO released this sleek little rig with patent-pending heating coil tech that can heat up anywhere between 450 and 1,000 degrees Fahrenheit. It’s less expensive than many similar premium rigs, too: The whole kit retails for $179.99.
It sounds too good to be true, but we tried it for ourselves, and it’s (a) real, (b) exactly what it says on the label, and (c) a joy to use. It’s a small, streamlined device that won’t take over your coffee table—you could very easily take it on a walk if you’re mindful of the glass.
Here’s our experience.
Since there are only a few separate parts for the Cira, it was easy to get the lay of the land right away. The box folds out like a book or suitcase, and every piece is tucked into its snug little foam cubby instead of a pile of bubble wrap. It makes for a great protective case for the device, too.
The kit is simple but thorough. One side holds the base with the heating element, the hand-blown borosilicate glass mouthpiece, titanium and quartz bangers, and carb cab with its silicone leash. The other has accessories like the charging dock, charging cord, and cleaning swabs, and a metal dab tool.
We plugged it in right away, and it was all charged up when we were ready for a session a couple of hours later. There’s not a lot of assembly required here: The glass piece is all-in-one with the bubbler, mouthpiece, and dome, and the whole thing slides over the screw-in banger smoothly and securely. For experienced dabbers, it’s tidy and time-saving; for those new to dabbing, it simplifies the process.
It was a little bit of a pain to fill the bubbler, but it was worth it: This stoner, a chronic liquid-spiller, never managed to spill it, even while using it curled up in a corner of the couch at an awkward angle.
One unexpected twist: The charging dock is more than an accessory and has to stay (unplugged) on the base of the device during each session. Fortunately, it was mostly able to just stay there on its own.
Fine-tuning the heat is the headline feature for this gadget, but it’s a dream to use, too. It’s lightweight and compact, and since there aren’t too many parts, there’s not a lot to fiddle around with. All the touchable areas of the Cira—that is, outside the dome and the heating element—stayed cool to the touch, no matter how long we used it. One more point for the accident-prone among us. It also just feels good to hold, with just the right amount of grip and no bulkiness. You can absolutely use this device with one hand.
Every function happens with just two buttons (+ and -) and a no-nonsense LCD readout, but the process is streamlined enough for it to be intuitive. Long-presses and double-taps safeguard the device from turning on or heating up accidentally.
We opted for the quartz banger and dabbed two very different strains, extracted into similar concentrates: crunchy crystalline Pink Sands and saucy Garlic Breath honey crystals.
Because there is such a breadth of temperature options, it took a few sessions to hit exactly the right heat. But in the process, we were really able to hone in on the right balance of flavor and texture—we were looking for a substantial enough cloud to enjoy the experience without having a coughing fit or burning off the terpenes, which is a tough tightrope to walk if you have a limited number of settings to work with. Being able to adjust down to every ten degrees made it much more doable.
It turns out, having precise temperature control is extremely handy, even when you’re using similar types of concentrates. Sweet, tropical Pink Sands dabbed gently, but noticeably, at 650 degrees. Garlic Breath, on the other hand, demanded a little more drama at 825, lending its full, funky flavor to denser clouds. Once you find that sweet spot for any concentrate, the Cira’s consistent temperature lets you easily replicate it in the next session.
Fresh concentrate works best in the Cira. We did try to be economical and stretch some pre-dabbed dabs, but found they usually needed a temperature boost to deliver those secondhand hits. An extra 50 degrees or so did the trick—an adjustment we would have never been able to make without this level of control.
The long-lasting battery also works as promised: More than two weeks later it was still chugging along.
The Cira experience is extremely efficient: It counts down its 20-second heating time on the no-nonsense LCD display, then starts a timer for 30 seconds once it’s warmed up. It’s enough for one or two people to get a hit or three in, although enough vapor builds up in the chamber that you usually get a couple of sips after.
If you want to pass it around a whole circle, you can extend the timer for 15 seconds once the timer gets below 10 seconds. Just double-tap the “+” button.
